Target Beneficiaries

Very poor farming families rely on seasonal jobs, insufficient for sustaining livelihoods, often resorting to labor work on roadsides.

Background

Many families in Bakhtapur and Babarganj, Sarlahi, Nepal, struggle to make ends meet due to inadequate income from seasonal farming and occasional labor work. This financial instability affects their ability to provide proper nutrition, education for their children, and access to healthcare.

Objectives:

  1. Livestock Support: Provide families with livestock such as ducks, goats, and chickens to generate sustainable income.
  2. Lease of Farmland: Facilitate access to farmland through leasing arrangements, enabling families to cultivate crops like vegetables and rice.
  3. Income Generation: Empower families to become self-sufficient through agricultural activities, reducing dependence on daily wage labor.

Implementation Plan:

  • Livestock Support:
    • Each family will receive livestock (ducks, goats, chickens) based on their preference and suitability.
    • Animal care, breeding, and management training will be provided to ensure sustainability.
    • Expected outcomes include regular income from the sale of eggs, milk, meat, and offspring.
  • Farmland Leasing:
    • Identify and lease suitable farmland to families interested in agricultural production.
    • Provide necessary agricultural inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, and tools.
    • Offer training on modern farming techniques to enhance productivity and yield.
  • Community Support:
    • Encourage group/community participation to support multiple families simultaneously.
