Project Overview

In a significant effort to improve the health, well-being, and educational access of girls at JEBS School in Babarganj-02, Sarlahi, the Better Life Social Organization recently distributed sanitary pads to 29-35 girls and female teachers. This initiative aimed to address the challenges these girls faced due to the lack of sanitary products, which often caused them to miss school and feel embarrassed during their menstrual cycle.

Before this project, many girls at JEBS were unable to afford sanitary pads and resorted to using old cloths, which were not only uncomfortable but also posed serious hygiene risks. This led to many girls staying home during their periods, missing valuable school days, and falling behind in their studies.

With the distribution of sanitary pads, these girls can now attend school regularly, without the worry or discomfort of managing their menstruation with inadequate materials.

The Impact of the Project

This simple yet impactful initiative has made a tremendous difference in the lives of these girls and female teachers:

  • Improved Attendance: The provision of sanitary pads has allowed the girls to stay in school during their menstrual cycle. With the comfort and security of proper hygiene products, they no longer need to miss school, leading to better academic consistency.
  • Increased Comfort and Confidence: The girls are now able to focus on their education without the constant worry or embarrassment about managing their period. This has not only improved their comfort but also their overall well-being and self-esteem.
  • Health and Hygiene: With access to sanitary pads, the risk of infections and other health issues associated with unhygienic menstrual management has been significantly reduced. This contributes to better long-term health for the students.
  • Empowerment: By providing access to sanitary products, we empower these girls to stay in school and pursue their education without being held back by natural biological processes. It’s a step forward in removing barriers to their future success.

Why This Project Matters

Access to sanitary products is essential for every girl’s dignity, health, and education. In many rural areas, such as Babarganj-02, menstrual health management is often overlooked, and the inability to afford pads can cause girls to skip school or, in some cases, drop out entirely. The Better Life Social Organization is committed to tackling these barriers to education by ensuring that girls in these communities receive the necessary resources to stay in school, stay healthy, and feel confident.
